The couple first approached me at the National Wedding Show back in 2013. They wanted something fun and different, so together, we came up with this design.
If I’m totally honest, a small part of me was worried that it may of been over the top. So we kept the surface of the cake as plain as we could. The couple and I were so pleased with the final result.
This five-tier wedding cake is made up of five different sponge flavours and fillings and will feed about 250 people. If you don’t have this many guests at your wedding and would still like a statement cake then dummy cakes may be a good option.
By the way, just remember when designing your wedding cake, each tier of your cake can be baked and butter creamed in a variety of flavours.

Handmade dusky pink sugar Roses and white Sweet Peas sit in between each tilted tier of the cake. Sugar wired flowers in any colours can be handmade; it’s a nice idea to match them to the bride’s bouquet!
There are 12 characters on this cake in total – A Bride and Groom Topper, Pretty Little Flower Girl, Page Boy, four Bridesmaids and four Groomsmen. Each character is individually made, taking great care into incorporating their features, expressions and dresses and suits worn on the wedding day.
Squires Kitchen featured this in their “Wedding Cake Magazine- a Design source and gave me a two-page spread. As you can guess, I was so pleased I could share this cake with thousands of people in the UK. If you get a chance to take a look; One of my Wedding Cakes is also front cover. There is a step by step of how to make the cake as well as an Interview inside.
